BAHAWALPUR - PPP District President Malik Aamir Yar Warren said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had remarkably represented the public sentiments against the US and her wrongdoings.
Bilawal had strongly defended Islamabad's position on war on terror issues as he told the Obama administration in a TV interview that "it is never too late (for it) to apologize" over the loss of 24 Pakistani soldiers in a cross-border strike that strained Pakistan-US relations.
The district leader also said that the way the party chairman conveyed his viewpoint shows his emotions for the national cause, adding that his views were reflection of his mother Benazir Bhutto and his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's point of views.
He said that his demand was fully justified and is backed by the public. Addressing a party meeting, Aamir Yar Warren remarked that National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza had taken a right step in favour of Prime Minister Gilani.
He said the workers were the real asset of the party and they would be given their due status and respect.
0He observed that the task assigned to him would be accomplished to redress the grievances and complaints of the party workers.
ICT R&D funds for research in IUB lauded: Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar has said that with reference to academic development, the Southern Punjab, particularly Bahawalpur needs relevant immediate measures, so that the region could be brought at par with the developed areas.
The students of the region should be provided opportunities of higher education and acquaintance with education of science and technology to enable them to play their active role in the process of national development.
This is an encouraging fact that National Information Communication Technology Research and Development Fund (ICT R&D Fund) has granted scholarships and research patronage to youth of the area to reap benefits from the latest facilities in the field of Information Technology. The VC expressed the views during an exchange of views with the faculty and students of University College of Engineering and Technology (UCET) regarding research projects funded by National ICT R&D Fund. Dr Mukhtar said that the potential of UCET faculty is laudable and owing to this fact ICT R&D Fund has approved ten projects for the students to promote ongoing research activities in the university. These projects were proposed by the departments of Telecom, Electronics, Electrical and Computer Engineering.
