LAHORE - The Governor General of Southern Iranian Province of Fars, Hossein Sadegh Abedin Tuesday held out support to Punjab in the fields of energy, agriculture, research in medicinal plants and fibre glass manufacturing.
The Governor General, who was heading a strong Iranian business delegation, was speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh presented address of welcome. Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa, President Shiraz Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Fereidoon Forghani, LCCI Senior Vice president Kashif Younis Meher, PBIT Vice Chairman Miftah Ismail, former LCCI presidents Mohsin Raza Bukhari, Shahid Hassan Sheikh and Iranian Consul General in Lahore Mohammad Hussain Bani Asadi also spoke on the occasion.
The Governor General said that the province of Fars enjoys highest level of expertise in petroleum exploration and gas sector development and Pakistan businessmen can initiate Joint Ventures in these areas. Hossein Sadegh Abedin said that Fars is also ready to help Pakistan in overcoming its woes in the field of energy by providing technological assistance and exporting energy resources.
He said that there was no doubt in it that Pakistan and Iran have excellent economic relation but these ties have no match to their respective potentials therefore both the sides should concentrate on furthering these relations. “Iran is ready to work with Pakistan in all sectors of the economy.” The Governor General said that in coming days the relations between Pakistan and Iran would further improve as both the countries have many reasons to be further closer.
Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa said that Punjab government was taking all possible measures to increase trade and economic relations with Iran. He said that the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif was spending all his energies to attract foreign investment in the province and the days are not very far when the Province of Punjab would be the manufacturing hub of the country.
