PU slams IJT for harassing IBIT Director

LAHORE - The Punjab University spokesman has strongly condemned an attempt of harassing staff and Director of Institute of Business and Information Technology by IJT activist and pasting derogatory posters at the institute.In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, the spokesman said that on May 28 at 3am, ten IJT hooligans after scolding an IBIT security guard pasted derogatory posters which were later removed. On the same evening at 6pm, three IJT activists came to IBIT and threatened the security guard saying that they would “set ablaze” if the posters were removed. In the early hours of May 29, the spokesman said, five IJT activists arrived at IBIT and again posted the same posters.He said that an emergency meeting of faculty members was held who strongly condemned the incident. The spokesman said that the PU had never been blackmailed and would not be pressurized now. The spokesman also said that only one student organization was involved in all the incidents of violence on the campus, he added that these elements and their supporters wanted to destroy peaceful academic atmosphere. He warned that disciplinary committee proceedings would be initiated against those students found in any illegal activity.Meanwhile, PU Academic Staff Association also condemned the harassment. And in its condemnation statement demanded the Punjab government to launch clean up operations
