Sovereignty at stake: Nawaz

LAHORE  - PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase of its history, as an incompetent and corrupt political leadership has put the sovereignty of the country at the stake. He was talking to media persons after a meeting with a delegation of party leaders from Sindh and Punjab on Tuesday. The delegation comprised former state minister Capt (r) Haleem Siddiqui, Lahore city chapter president Pervaiz Malik and MNA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.Nawaz said due to poor policies, mismanagement and massive corruption national institutions were at the verge of collapse, while uncontrolled inflation, poverty unemployment and power crisis had forced the people to commit suicides. He said Karachi, the industrial hub and base of country’s economy, was in the hands of extortionists, target killers and land grabbers, who did not care for government and laws enforcement agencies, which were busy in politicking over the issue. The PML-N leader said it was not the time to divide on sectarian and party lines, and joint efforts were required to take the country out of the prevailing crises.Nawaz said to get rid of the corrupt leadership and protect the future of coming generations, all sections of the society must move forward to play their role for protecting national interests. No leader or political party could alone resolve the on-going critical situation in the country and all stakeholders needed to join hands for national cause, he maintained. The PML-N chief said corruption was the root cause of power crisis and other ills confronting the country, adding that the people and his party would rid the country of all evils after coming into power.
