Zachary Harkenrider takes over US Consul General

LAHORE - Mr Zachary Harkenrider took over US Consul General on May 19, 2014, succeeding Ms Nina Maria Fite who departed Pakistan on May 18, 2014.
Mr. Harkenrider is a career member of the US Foreign Service.  He previously served as Deputy Political Counselor at the US Embassy in Islamabad, where his work focused on the US-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, Afghanistan policy, and regional peace and stability.
He has served in Washington in the Office of the US Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, and twice in Afghanistan, in US Embassy Kabul’s Political-Military Affairs office, and as the State Department representative on the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ghazni Province.  He has also completed diplomatic assignments in Niger and India.
A native of upstate New York, Mr Harkenrider is a graduate of the University of Rochester.  He enjoys hiking and biking and is fluent in French and Dari. He is married to Yukari Harkenrider, a former UN official originally from Tokyo, Japan.
While public services at the US Consulate in Lahore remain unavailable at this time, Consul General Harkenrider and his staff are committed to continuing the important engagement between the Unites States and the people of Punjab.
