BAHAWALPUR - Bahawalpur police foiled an attempt of smuggling narcotics and recovered huge cache of drugs and ice. Following special directions of Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani, District Police Officer Muhammad Faisal Kamran has directed all police officers to accelerate their efforts against drug dealers, smugglers and curb this menace from city. Following these directions, a special team of police was constituted under the supervision of DSP Saddar. Police conducted a special checking and when it signaled to stop a vehicle, instead of stopping, the driver of car drove away. However the police team managed to stop the vehicle. Bahawalpur Police police recovered a total of 3 to 12 kg of cannabis worth over Rs3 million from the car. Police arrested a drug smuggler Abdul Rehman, resident of Bahawalpur and registered two separate cases against the accused. DPO has lauded the professionalism and dedication of the Bahawalpur police and said that police were performing different duties with professionalism and dedication and was making no compromise on any front. DPO awarded prizes to police personnel for seizing drugs and distributed appreciable certificates among them.
Mega projects worth Rs4.09b approved for IUB
Faculty and students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have thanked the Honourable Prime Minister Imran Khan for approving six mega projects worth Rs4090.294 million including Ahmadpur East Campus for the University. They also praised the efforts of Ms Kanwal Shauzab, MNA, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives whose efforts had made these mega projects possible. It was important to mention that Central Development Working Party, Planning Commission of the Federal Government yesterday had approved six projects for the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under Public Sector Development Program including Ahmadpur East Campus, Mechanical Engineering Department, Institute of Physics, South Punjab Agribusiness Institute, one academic block and a hostel for Bahawalnagar Campus. This project was being considered a landmark achievement and education circles had lauded the federal government for announcing these mega projects in the higher education sector for Bahawalpur region.
