LAHORE - Daniyal Ghulam Nabi was declared the best boy swimmer and Mayah Saida Lone the best girl swimmer in the Annual Swimming Gala held here at Lahore Gymkhana Swimming Pool.
With COVID getting less severe the Lahore Gymkhana Swimming Pool Organizers initiated the Annual Swimming Championship for Boys and Girls after a lapse of two years. And the talented ones looked enlivened and stimulated as the contest finally went underway. Participation numbers were huge and little ones had been regularly wading through the heated pool to prepare themselves for the grand event.
Top performing girls in various age categories included Nadin Saigol in U-8 group while Anaya Farhan Rao was the best in U-10. Prominent one in U-12 turned out to be Sara Shahzad while in U-14, Maya Saida Lone was the pick of the gala and looks all set for higher honors in future. Imposing one in U-16 was Zara Lukesar and formidable one in U-25 was Eeshna Umer Shafi.
The U-8 boy, who swam to victory, was Sulayman Hotiana. Front runners of U-12 and U-14 were Sultan Sayeed Saigol, Abdullah Shabbir and Mustafa Kabir Hassan. Daniyal Ghulam Nabi and Hamza Asif were wonderful in U-16 and timings were national level. Zayan Raza Khan and Rafay Raza Khan shared top slots in U-18. And in U-40 category the outstanding one was Faraan Ahmed Irfan. In the end, Convenor Sports Wajid Aziz and Captain Swimming Amin Taqi Butt awarded prizes to the winners.
