JI demands daily wagers’ regularisation

LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan has stressed upon the federal and provincial governments to regularise the services of workers who have been daily wage earners in government and semi-government organisations for years simultaneously in order to relieve them from the threat of dismissal.
Addressing a function organised by the National Labour Federation in honour of the workers in the City on Thursday, he claimed that the government had completely failed to protect the interests of the labourers, as the national and multi national companies were forcing the workers to work on daily and low wages including Railways, PIA and Pakistan Steel Mills.
The JI chief pointed out that the Minimum Wages Act was not being implemented anywhere and the workers were being denied welfare fund, education stipends, marriage and death grants.  He said the privatisation of institutions had increased unemployment.
