The Punjab government has set up the first donkey farm in Okara after increase in demand from China and other countries.
According to details, the farm will be used for breeding different breeds of donkeys which will be exported to other countries.
According to media reports, the 3,050-acre Bahadur Nagar Farm in Okara, established in 1916, is the first official donkey farmhouse in Pakistan.
High breeds of donkeys from many countries, including the United States, are being bred in this farm.
Due to increase in demand for donkeys from China and other countries, the Punjab government has started work on this project, which will later help to earn foreign exchange from the export of donkeys.
The Farm’s manager Dr Mansoor Mubeen said fast changing economic trends are bringing a revolution in rural areas. He hoped that the project would help local breeders to earn a livelihood.
