Seasonal influenza rearing head in Multan

Eight died of H1N1 so far

MULTAN-At least eight citizens have died of Seasonal Influenza, also known as Swine Flu (H1N1), while 15 are admitted to different wards of Nishtar Hospital.
Hospital sources revealed that the influenza attack took the lives of the citizens during the last three days and now three other patients were in ICU due to their critical condition. The deceased included three women and five men. Hospital sources said that 12 patients, who were tested positive for H1N1, are being treated at the isolation ward set up for the patients of influenza.
Meanwhile, the Nishtar Hospital administration has decided to set up counters for the suspected patients of influenza at emergency, medical outdoor and children wards.
Earlier, the patients are already being treated separately at isolation ward. Similarly, the Multan Waste Management Company has also been sent a request to remove the waste generated by the patients from Nishtar hospital.
Chief Executive Officer of District Health Authority Dr Shahid Bokhari told the media that a massive awareness campaign has also been launched by the health department to make the people aware of symptoms and precautions of Seasonal Influenza.
