ISLAMABAD - Tayyab Aslam and Faiza Zafar become the crowned champions of the 11TH DG Rangers Open Squash Championship 2017 as they beat their respective opponents in the final played at the DG Rangers Jahangir Khan squash complex Saturday. In the men’s singles final, Tayyab Aslam, a seasoned campaigner, was up against World Junior team winning member Israr Ahmed. It was a highly close contest as both players fought keenly for every point. Although the score line suggested Tayyab won 3-1 but the ground situation was completely different.  Both players gave each other tough time for each and every point. Tayyab won the first game 11-9. Israr staged a comeback to level the match 1-1 by winning second game 9-11. Tayyab again regained lead in third set by winning it 11-9. He continued to keep Israr under pressure and won the and fourth game as well as the title 11-6. The final lasted for grueling 63 minutes that enthralled the audience. In the ladies singles final, Faiza Zafar hammered top seed Sadia Gul 3-1 in 42 minutes. Sadia, who was considered to be the outright winner, but can’t even stand and produced what was expected from her. Sadia won first game 10-12.  But it was all she could do as Faiza won three next games at trot. Faiza won next games 13-11, 11-9 and 11-8 to land title.
