4800 well-equipped cops to guard Rawalpindi on new year night: CPO

Police have barred aerial firing, fireworks and one-wheeling in the district

Rawalpindi-Rawalpindi police have finalised a comprehensive security plan for new year night, informed a police spokesman on Thursday.
The security plan was devised by police on instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Sajid Kiani to protect the life and property of public, barring aerial firing, fireworks and one wheeling in the district, he added.
“As many as 4800 well-equipped cops will perform security duty on new year night,” he said.
Moreover, Dolphin Force, Muhafiz Sqaud, Tactical Action Group, City Protection Unit and mobile vans of police stations would assist the police force to control law and order situation.
Earlier, CPO Sajid Kiani held a meeting at Police Line in this regard to review the crime situation, as well as law and order situation in the district.
The CPO directed all the officials concerned to ensure foolproof security on the eve of new year night, and to protect the lives and property of people. He ordered strict action against those involved in aerial firing and any kind of illegal activity.
He said police should also enhance security of tourists in Murree to maintain law and order. 
He directed to ramp up security around and inside of churches and other worship places of minorities in the district.
He said special pickets to be erected to tighten noose around those involve in one wheeling.
“Rawalpindi police are fully prepared to shield the lives and property of public by utilizing all the available resources,” said CPO Sajid Kiani.
He directed Divisional SPs to check duties of the subordinates and to take strict action against the cops found involved in showing negligence during duty.
Likewise, a special traffic plan was also made under the command of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Taimoor Khan under which some 300 traffic officers and wardens will perform duty to ease traffic flow.
According to CTP spokesman SI Kashif Saroosh, CTO Taimoor Khan has also constituted special squads to maintain the smooth flow of traffic. He has directed staffers to take strict action against those involved in one wheeling and showing stunts on cars.
