Cops martyred in Peshawar grenade attack, Mardan firing

Peshawar   -  A police constable was martyred in Peshawar and another succumbed to injuries in Mardan district on Friday.

In Peshawar, some unidentified attackers hurled a grenade on a police van carrying personnel of the Rapid Response Force (RRF), killing one and injuring two personnel. The van, which was on a routine patrol, was attacked near Karkhanu Market.

Inspector-General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari along with other officials visited the venue of the attack and ordered an investigation.

AIG Shafqat Malik, who heads the bomb disposal squad, told The Nation that a handgrenade, weighing around 0.9kg, was used in the attack.

Meanwhile, another police constable was martyred during firing between two parties in Mardan district. Constable Shahzad Khan was injured in Chura area when an accused Amin opened firing during the clash. 

The constable was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to injuries.
