ISLAMABAD - Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, said that more than 383,000 anti-Covid doses were administered across the country in a single day (Sunday), terming it a new record. “Around 11.7 million people have registered for vaccination so far, while seven million doses have been administered,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, coronavirus claimed 56 more lives in the country during the last 24 hours. According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 55,965 tests were conducted in the same period. Pakistan has now reported a positivity ratio below five per cent for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday, as per data from the NCOC.
The country reported a 4.81 per cent positivity rate with 2,697 new cases, according to the NCOC. The number of total deaths due to coronavirus across the country has now reached 20,736.
Islamabad recorded 109 new coronavirus cases, up from 80 a day earlier, taking the capital’s tally to 81,116. It also reported two more fatalities, taking the death toll to 757. Gilgit Baltistan reported 11 new infections while Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded 62, taking their tallies to 5,572 and 19,170, respectively. AJK also confirmed one more fatality. Punjab reported 696 new cases and 22 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The province’s total cases have reached 339,073 while the death toll is 9,982. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s coronavirus cases tally has risen to 132,170 with the detection of 394 fresh infections. The province’s death toll stands at 4,060 after 17 more people succumbed to the virus. Meanwhile, 82 new cases and three more deaths were reported in Balochistan, taking the province’s total infections to 25,083 and fatalities to 276.
According to the official portal, the total number of coronavirus patients in Sindh reached 316,752 while 5,014 people have succumbed to the virus so far. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus patients in Punjab is 339,073 and 9,982 people have lost their lives to the virus. The total number of patients in Balochistan is 19,290 while the death toll is 276. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the number of coronavirus patients is reported to be at 132,170 with 4,060 deaths while in Azad Kashmir, 19,170 people have been infected with the virus and 540 people have died from the virus so far. The number of coronavirus patients in Gilgit-Baltistan so far has been 5,572 and 107 people have died from coronavirus. According to the NCOC data, the total number of coronavirus patients in the federal capital city Islamabad is 81,116 and so far 757 deaths have been reported.
