'Irregularities' in contract awarding complained

BAHAWALNAGAR-They will face the inquiry tomorrow as the contractors cried foul at the alleged violation of the rules while awarding contracts of various projects on September 26, 2017.
Saeed Lodhi had lodged the complaint with Director (C&I) Punjab that he was denied to take part in the tenders by Chief Officer Arshad Virk and District Officer (I&S) Abdul Razzaq on the grounds that his firm was not registered with District Council.
Both the officers violated the rules and didn't get the estimates sanctioned by Chief Engineer, which is a grave irregularity, he pleaded. Both the officers awarded tenders to their blue-eyed contractors and earned hefty commission, he alleged. On the complaint, the high authorities of local government ordered probe and sought a report in this regard.
POLICE FLAYED: The Saddr police and outlaws have allegedly connived as the accused who had hurled threats of dire consequences to the victim family are still at large. SHO Saddr Javed Gujjar has turned a blind eye to the firing incident in which the proclaimed offender had injured three persons.
PO Mazhar had injured Asif and two other persons with unprovoked firing. Asif is under treatment at BVH Bahawalpur. Instead of taking action against outlaws, the SHO had connived with the influential landlord.
After getting police favour, the accused started hurling threats of dire consequences to the victims. The victims demanded the DPO take note of the highhandedness of the Saddr police.
