PAL confers awards on literary figures

ISALMABAD - The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has announced Kamal-e-Fun Award for the year 2011. Prominent Sindhi writer/ intellectual and short story writer Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo has been nominated for this award.
Kamal-e-Fun Award is the highest literary award in the field of literature for recognition of lifetime's achievement in creative and research work. The amount of this award is Rs. 500,000/-
Abdul Hameed, PAL Chairman, at a press conference on Wednesday also announced the National Literary Award for the year 2011 on the best literary books written during the year in Pakistani languages.
According to the decision of the panel for Urdu poetry 'Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal Award' is given to Manzar Hussain on his book "Satar Nooh" (Judges: Dr. Amri Sohail, Sarwar Javed, and Manzar Ayubi), in Urdu Prose 'Baba-I-Urdu Molvi Abdul Haq Award'' is given to Mansha Yaad on his book "Door Ki Awaz" (Judges: Dr. Saadat Saeed, Dr. Tayyab Munir and Zahida Hina), in Punjabi 'Syed Waris Shah Award' is given to Dr. Inaam Ul Haq Javed on his book "Mauj Mela" (Judges: Dr.Shahbaz Malik, Parveen Malik and Khalid Farhad Rival), in Sindhi 'Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Award' is given to Fazal-ul-Allah Qureshi on his book "Kuj Yaadon Kuj Ghalion" (Judges: Dur Muhammad Pathan, Qalandar Shah Likyari and Altaf Sheikh), in Pashto 'Khush'hall Khan Kahattak Award'  is given to Dr. Javed Kalil on his book "Pashto-o-Mustashraqeen" (Judges: Dr. Raaj Wali Shah Khattak, Farooq Sarwar and M. R. Shafaq), in Seraiki 'Khwaja Ghulam Farid Award'' is given to Muhammad Ismail Ahmedani on his book "Yaden Da Khawab Mehal" (Judges: Dr. Ahsan Wagha, Dr. Sajjad Haider Parvez and Musarrat Kalanchvi), in Brahvi 'Taj Muhammad Tajal Award' is given to Dr. Abdul Rehman Brahvi  on his book "Be-Baha (Judges: Dr. Waheed Zaheer. Prof. Khuda Dad Gul and Abdul Hameed Shahwani) and for best translation works "Muhammad Hassan Askari Award" is given to Mehmood Ahmed Qazi  on his book "Katha Nagar" (Judges: Dr. Sarwar Kamran, Dr. Jaffar Ahmed and Muhammad Aslam Ansari).

According to the decision of the panel for Urdu poetry 'Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal Award' is given to Khalid Ahmed on his book "Num Grifta" (Judges: Riaz Majeed, Prof. Nazir Anjum and Jalil Aali), in Urdu Prose 'Baba-I-Urdu Molvi Abdul Haq Award'' is given to Dr. Wazir Agha on his book "Tanqeedi Theory Ke So Saal" (Judges: Masood Ashar, Zia-ul-Hassan and Attia Syed), in Punjabi 'Syed Waris Shah Award' is given to Zahid Hassan on his book "Ghaleecha Unn Wali" (Judges: Aslam Kolsary, Ilyas Ghumman and Dr. Saleem Shehzad), in Sindhi 'Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Award' is given to Ayaz Gul on his book "Meli Ji Tanhai" (Judges: Prof.Muhammad Yousuf, Badar Abro and Shoukat Hussain), in Pashto 'Khush'hall Khan Kahattak Award'  is given to Prof. Muhammad Nawaz Tahir on his book "Tampa-o-Yand" (Judges: Abid Shah Abid, Syeda Haseena Gull and Prof. Aslam Taseer Afridi) in Seraiki 'Khwaja Ghulam Farid Award'' is given to Saleem Shehzad  on his book "Ghaan" (Judges: Muhammad Aslam Rasool Jampuri, Shakir Ali Shakir and Prof. Riffat Abbas), in Brahvi 'Taj Muhammad Tajal Award' is given to Munir Ahmed Badeni  on his book "Tena Heet Teen Tun" (Judges: Tahira Ehsas Jattak, Dr. Abdul Razzaq and Afzal Mengal), in English 'Pitras Bukhari Award' is given to Athar Tahir on his book "The Gift of Possession" (Judges: Afsar Sajid, Dr. Amina Nasir and Yasmeen Hameed).
