KP Assembly condemns kids’ abuse

PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution, condemning abuse of children in district Kasur and demanding award of the severest punishment to the culprits.
PPP lawmaker Nighat Yasmin Orakzai moved the joint resolution of the opposition and treasury benches in the house. The resolution was carrying the signatures of the mover, Nighat Yasmin Orakzai, provincial ministers, Inayatullah Khan, Atif Khan and Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Sardar Hussain Babak of ANP, Shah Hussain of JUI-F, Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotah and Akbar Hayat Khan PML-N and Bakht Baidar Khan of QWP.
Through the resolution which was read out by MPA Nighat Orakzai said, “This house condemns the incident of sexual abuse of children in district Kasur and urges the federal government to direct the Punjab government to award severe punishment to the accused involved in the incident and play its due role in bringing them to justice.”
Earlier, Nighat Orakzai raised the issue on a point of order and termed it a shameful act. She said the shameful incident had humiliated the entire nation. She lamented the culprits had abused in such a large number of children and had made their video clips to blackmail their parents.
She requested the media and police not to disclose the names of the victims of such incidents. She proposed the KP chief minister, leading a delegation of top officials of his government, should visit Kasur to express solidarity with the affected families.
Bakht Baidar, Sardar Hussain Babak and Qurban Ali Khan, in their speeches, also condemned the incident and demanded award of exemplary punishment to the culprits.
The speaker relaxed the rules to allow the mover to present the resolution. The resolution, put for vote, was adopted by the house unanimously. Later, the speaker adjourned the session for Tuesday (today).
