Islamabad-Mayor Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority Sheikh Anser Aziz said that all measures were being taken for upgrading the Capital Hospital, also known as the CDA Hospital.

The Capital Hospital is not only serving employees and officers of CDA but also providing treatment to patients of other government institutions and a large number of residents of the federal capital.

The up-gradation plan includes installation of latest medical equipment and recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff, the mayor said.

He was presiding over a meeting at CDA Headquarters. On this occasion, executive director of the hospital and officers of concerned formations were also present. The meeting reviewed last month’s progress report of the Capital Hospital.

The mayor said that construction of new block in the hospital had been approved while recruitment process for doctors and paramedical staff was in final stages. He said that with introduction of new and latest medical facilities, employees and officers of the CDA would be provided better treatment at the hospital.

He further said that due to consistent increase in the number of patients with the passage of time, it was dire need of the hour to upgrade the hospital. He said that a comprehensive strategy had been chalked out for expansion of the Capital Hospital while work on the plan would be started soon.

On this occasion, the mayor was apprised that the CDA Hospital treated 64,948 patients during the month of November.

The number includes CDA employees and outdoor patients. He was informed that 30,517 outdoor patients were provided treatment at the hospital during November in addition to the 846 in-door ward admissions.

Furthermore, 27,795 pathology laboratory examinations, 187 operation theatre procedures, 1,581 general radiology and 277 imaging radiology, 509 provided physiotherapies, 784 ECGs/ECHO/ETT, 231 dialysis and 138 platelets rich plasma therapy patients were also treated during the month.

Moreover, 61 babies were born at the hospital during November. Similarly, 22 patients expired at the hospital during this duration.

 The mayor directed the executive director of the hospital to ensure presence of doctors and other staff and provision of better medical facilities to the patients.
