Maryam demands re-polling in NA-75

LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday urged the apex court to avoid becoming a party on Senate polls.  “Court should stay away from any controversy. Public will consider any relief to the government as biased decision,” she said while talking to the media outside her Jati Umra residence before leaving for Wazirabad to attend public meeting.

Maryam Nawaz reiterated that her party was not against open ballot but was not ready to give any relief to the incumbent government.

“Despite several calls, we refused to sit with the government for bringing amendment in the constitution. We won’t give any relief to the ‘selected’ government which is pushing for the legislation to save drowning ship,” she said while raising the question that why Prime Minister Imran Khan had not thought about transparency when Senators were forced to cast votes for Chairman Senate against party decision. Demanding a re-polling in the entire NA-75 Daska instead of 20 polling stations, she said that the party had moved a petition to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

To a query, she confirmed that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was coming to Jati Umra for a lunch on Thursday (today).
