| Governor promulgates Ordinance | Says PTI govt making decisions according to aspirations of people
LAHORE - Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Tuesday issued an Ordinance taking the districts of Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib out of the jurisdiction of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
An official handout issued from the Governor House said that the Ordinance has been issued on the demands of provincial ministers, assembly members and the public at large. The Lahore Development Authority Act, 1975 has been amended through this Ordinance.
In a statement, the Governor said that the people, ministers and members of the Assembly of the three districts were constantly demanding that they their districts should be taken out of the LDA’s jurisdiction. “The PTI government is making decisions according to the aspirations of the people and providing relief to the people in every sector”, he said.
Govt sets up Commercial Courts
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has issued an Ordinance for the establishment of Commercial Courts in five districts of Punjab, including Lahore.
According to the new laws, the commercial cases will be decided in two hearings if the defendants don’t appear in the Commercial Courts.
In this connection, a special event was held at Governor House Lahore to issue the Ordinance. Officers of relevant departments including Provincial Minister for Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal, Lahore High Court and Lahore Chamber of Commerce, Principal Secretary to Governor Dr Rashid Mansoor were also present on the occasion. According to the Ordinance, all commercial cases pending in other courts will be transferred to new Commercial Courts. Commercial Courts will decide pending cases from other courts within 180 days. Constituency boundaries will also be fixed for all Commercial Courts.
Talking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the establishment of Commercial Courts would restore the confidence of investors in the government as well as the legal system. “Providing timely justice to the business community is the top priority of the government. They will not have to wait for years in the courts for decisions. They will ensure the timely delivery of justice through Commercial Courts”, he observed.
Sarwar said that the role of the business community in the economic strength of Pakistan cannot be ignored. “There will be no unnecessary delay in the decision of commercial cases”.
Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said that the government would address the concerns of the business community and together we have to make Pakistan economically strong and prosperous.
