Male child sex trade goes on unchecked

rawalpindi - The male child prostitution is going on in several hotels and inns around Pirwadhai Bus Terminal, well-placed sources disclosed to The Nation on Saturday.
In this regard, the Special Branch (SB) of Punjab Police has prepared a number of reports and sent to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera for further legal action against the owners of the hotels and inns involved in the child prostitution business, sources said.
According to sources, the drivers of buses and trucks are allegedly involved in child molestation in the rented rooms of the inns. They said that the children being abused sexually against money in the hotels and inns either work on workshops and hotels or they are street children.
The Special Branch has submitted a report with the office of IGP Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera in Lahore to devise further line of action against the owners of the hotels and inns involved in sinful business in the city, the sources added. There are some unconfirmed reports that a racket is also involved in supplying the teenage children for sex business in Pirwadhai.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rana Shahid Pervaiz, when contacted by The Nation, confirmed that the male child prostitution is under way in the inns and hotels at Pirwadhai. He said that a number of reports have been prepared by the hotels surveillance staff of SB and sent to the IGP for further legal action against the hotel owners.
A local trader of Pirwadhai Bus Terminal told The Nation that eunuchs were also being involved in sex business in the locality, besides young children. Only a massive crackdown of police could end the sinful business from the area, he said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Pirwadhai, Chaudhry Riaz, when approached for his comments on the male child prostitution in his limits, categorically denied that something wrong was going on in the hotels and inns on Pirwadhai Bus Terminal. He admitted that female prostitution was going on in hotels and he had launched crackdown against such hotels. “I have registered 15 FIRs against the female prostitutes, pimps and hotel owners during the last one and half month,” Chuadhry Riaz claimed.
DSP Sardar Babar Mumtaz (who is also acting SP of Rawal Division) did not attend his cell phone when this scribe tried to get his point of view on the issue.
Meanwhile, Punjab Child Protection Bureau District Officer Irfan Sagheer while chatting with The Nation said that the bureau was housing some 60 children out of whom nobody was victim of child abuse. He said that in 2010 the bureau received a child who admitted that he was abused sexually. The child also revealed the name of the accused, he added. He said that the bureau lodged complaint with police which had nabbed the accused and sent him to jail.
