ISLAMABAD (APP) - President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday awarded Nishan-e-Pakistan to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in recognition of his visionary leadership and outstanding contribution to strengthen Pak-Turk relations. The award was announced at an investiture ceremony in connection with Pakistan Day at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The Turkish Prime Minister has already been conferred the award by President Asif Ali Zardari on October 26, 2009 during his visit to Islamabad, at an investiture ceremony also attended by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate and the two first ladies. The citation read out at the ceremony said, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a dynamic, sagacious and far-sighted leader of high international stature, for whom the people of Pakistan have profound respect and affection. Erdogan was the first foreign head of government to visit the affected areas hit by the devastating earthquake in October 2005.
